Today I want to share a story and a FREE PDF pattern of one my very popular and favorite designs of all times: the Crocodile Stitch Baby Blanket. I designed this baby while pregnant with my miracle baby Asher (who now is seven years old) and my mom crocheted it as his coming home gift.
Bringing home my miracle baby seven years ago.
Last week, my little boy Asher was having a terrible time with the flu. He couldn't keep anything down and without going into many details... at some point, we just ran out of all his blankies. That was when I recalled we still had his Crocodile Stitch Blanket kept carefully as an heirloom since he was a baby. In fact, I had just washed it before the New Year and returned it to its dedicated heirloom place.
I brought it to him and immediately he asked: "when did you get this new blanket, mom?". It was the cue I needed to tell him the story of his birth and the blanket illustrated by pictures and special effects. While listening to me, he soothed himself by cuddling with the croc stitch scales and in just a few minutes, he felt in a deep sleep.

I am happy to report that Asher has quickly recovered and is now back to his own self. He has asked me to keep sleeping with croc blankie. I thought about explaining to him that it was an heirloom piece, but what's the point of keeping a blanket "safe" for the unknown future if I can witness his enjoyment now and fill my heart with love, right?
