US Size G (4.00 mm) hook

 Gauge: With size G (4.00 mm) crochet hook in pattern

Row 1: Ch 12, dc in 4th ch from hook (ch does not count as dc), and across, turn. (10 sts)

Row 2: Ch 3 (does not count as st throughout for gauge swatch only), FPdc across, turn. (10 sts)

1. The beauty of knitted embossed leaves has been “translated” to crochet in this Embossed Leaves Vortex Shawl. This pattern is rated as intermediate. The shawl is worked from the bottom up and skills required to complete this project are: crocheting in the rows, chain (ch), slip stitch (sl st), single crochet (sc), double crochet (dc), V-stitch (in this pattern, the V-st is made of: hdc 1, ch 1, hdc 1), front post double crochet (FPdc) and back post double crochet (BPdc).

2. The shawl showcased in sample pictures measures 28” (71 cm) wide by 42” (107 cm) long, which is on the short side for a shawl or let’s call it a shawlette. If you prefer a larger shawl, the pattern can be easily increased. Instructions for size customization will be provided.

Instructions for Customization 

For a larger shawl, after Row 78, just Rep Row 13Row 34 twice, then rep Row 13 – 23 once, and finish by rep Row 90 – Row 99. The stitch count will only increase on V-st section of shawl.

For a larger shawl, you’ll need a second yarn cake.
