The Design:
The main section is worked sideways and finished with a "Ruffle-as-you-Go" technique where you work them all along without needing extra finishing work (such as tedious weaving in loose ends).
An intermediate crocheter or even a dedicated beginner will be comfortable in making this project. The pattern will include a PHOTO TUTORIAL with many pictures showing the pattern in more details. Pattern is written in US crochet terms.

PART TWO DIRECTIONS:
Pattern Notes:
- In most layered ruffle patterns, you first need to crochet a flat piece to serve as base for the ruffles, and crochet the ruffles row by row on top of this base. This technique requires fastening off each row of ruffles, which at the end of the project will produce too many ends to weave. The novelty of this design is that it solves the issue of multiple fasten off completely. You will work the ruffles all along without extra finishing work (endless weaving ends!). You’ll first crochet a foundation row of a crochet mesh (ch 2, tr) on the row before the last row worked and follow it by ruffles made on the tr of the mesh throughout
- Crocheting on a row before last is exactly what it means. For example: If you just finished crocheting row 163 (a row of ruffles) and the instructions for row 164 read: “tr in next ch-2 sp one row before last”… this means that you have to make this tr on the ch-2 sp of row 162 (the row before last row: 163).
- When crocheting the rows of mesh it helps if you fold ruffles rows down, so you can easily see the stiches from row before last.
Directions Part Two: Edging
With hook size US I (5.50 mm),
Row 161: Working across end-row sps of bottom edge where increases and decreases were made, Ch 4 (count as tr), 3 tr in same end-row sp as beg ch-4, * ch 2, 4 tr in next end-row sp, rep from * across; turn. – (640 tr + 318 ch = 958 sts)
Note: Row 162 is worked in same end-row sps where Row 161 was worked.
Row 162: Ch 4 , tr in first end-row sp, * ch 2, skip next 4 tr, tr in next end-row sp, rep from * across to last end-row sp, ch 2, join with sl st in last tr of Row 161; turn. – (160 tr + 322 ch = 482 sts)
