FREE Puff Stitch Earflap Hat

This is the season that all crafters are "working" at full force crocheting a gazillion items for gifts, charity or selling. Unfortunately, I have little time these days to crochet items to give, but my son Asher asked me to crochet a few hats for his school's winter accessories charity drive, and OF COURSE, I had to abide.

I needed a quick, cost-effective, but a cute hat that my boy would be proud to give. Surprisingly, he has a great eye for fashion and color. The result was this one-skein wonder "Puff Stitch Earflap Hat".

I posted a picture of the hat on our Bonita Patterns CALs Facebook Group and I received several requests to write up the pattern. I promised our followers I'd share it for free as a Holiday gift and here it is.

I hope you enjoy it and make several of these for gifts and charity, so I can gift vicariously through your hands.

Happy Holidays!

If you are familiar with my work, you probably know by now that I'm a lover of texture, color. For texture, I used puff stitches for a quick, yet fun fabric. For an impressive color effect without having to change color (and weaving ends...), I used my self-striping Dream Baby yarn in Dark Bird of Paradise colorway (adult version) and Festive colorway (child version). I'm obviously biased, but it's hard to beat the softness, quality, price and over 20 color options of Dream Baby
