How serendipitous it is to be able to both kick off a new exciting venture and celebrate the 20th anniversary of my arrival in the U.S. at the same time–and with a project that I designed using a yarn with a rainbow colorway! I’m about to grab some red pumps and break into song, just like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, because right now I feel like I found that Somewhere….over the rainbow…
And that’s just one metaphor. Right now I can think of so many that fit this celebration and new venture that I’m getting goose bumps.
Life can send us tornadoes, but also takes us to new places, offers new challenges, gives us new starts (and even re-starts). But as we have learned from “Oz,” with the support of good friends we can overcome witches and poisoned poppies and mean apple trees and flying monkeys, to find our way back home, no magic or wizards needed.
I have been overwhelmed and joyful with the support you have shown me these past two weeks, after I first announced the pending launch of our Bonita Patterns CALs. Our Facebook group received over 1000 new members in the first week with no advertising, just a mailer and word of mouth.
That was amazing, but it was nothing compared to what happened next. Even better was the engagement of our new community. I could scarcely believe what wonderful things people had to say and do. Took my breath away.
I was stoked before, but now I am more confident than ever! I’m confident we are going to create beautiful things together and have fun while doing it. We don’t need to follow on the traps marketing and advertising gimmicks or fluff. I started Bonita Patterns with “A hook, a string and a dream” and YOU made it happen! These CALs have been the best outlet to get in touch on how “magic” started and where is HOME… you! Lets lab, play, experiment, be I more audacious than ever, stretch the norm to create, reinvent, and evolve the art of crocheting together!
AND NOW….Let us begin.
