Crocheted Fashions at NYFW

Posted by bonitapatterns@gmail.com on

First of all, welcome back to the Bonita Patterns Blog! We’re now Bonita Patterns & Yarns after expanding our collection to include some seriously cool and unique yarny goodness! I’m Lindsay and I am super excited to learn more about the world of crochet and provide you lovely readers with some fun content, and I’d love to hear what you think of our new facelift! You can email me at marketing@bonitayarns.com :)

New York has been absolutely buzzing this week with New York Fashion Week festivities in full swing. The Spring/Summer 2015 collections are promising lots of gorgeous colors, textures and a dash of the unexpected. One trend that we are obviously on board for: CROCHET! It’s true, the runways were dripping with yarn this season and we are so excited to see designers’ unique spin on the fiber arts. I think that they’re especially inspiring, too, for your own creations—these photos are giving me all sorts of ideas for color and texture combinations I never would have thought of myself. Here’s just a sample of the goods hot off the runways:

Aren’t these Tommy Hilfiger pieces so effortless and cool for summer? Not sure how practical a crochet bikini is, but you’ll certainly be the coolest person on the beach. I also love the combination of patterns on the crochet-top maxi dress—very 70’s bohemian. His whole collection is super cool and filled with a rainbow of vibrant crochet pieces, which I’ll definitely be looking to for inspiration!

Of course, it wouldn’t be NYFW without a dash of the weird, so how about Angel Chen’s showstopping crochet headpiece? Loving the vibrant pinks:

So, where should you start when coming up with your own crocheted wearables? Well, first you need the perfect yarn, of course. Here’s what you can use to recreate your own version of the looks shown above:

For your own spin on the beachy bohemian vibes of Tommy Hilfiger, try our most popular yarn: the Bonita Yarns Kaleidoscopic, which is a super vibrant rainbow of colors that adds an unexpected twist to your projects. If Angel Chen’s pink-hued vision has piqued your interest, you’d probably love our Dream Baby Pink Degrade!

What do you think? Any favorite NYFW looks? Let us know in the comments!
